How much do I love Maureen Jann and Denise Stockman of Bon Moment?

1. They inject a sense of humor into the sometimes overly serious business of wedding invitations.
2. They are wildly creative in their offerings: Sock Puppets, Rockabilly, Day of Dead, and Retro Telegrams.
3. They are humble amidst their fabulousness as Etsy stars and although they could, do not Tweet about themselves all day, therefore…..
4. I must! Read on…

Mustaches? Moustaches? Huh!

Sure, most couples don’t first associate weddings with mustaches but we just can’t get enough! Even since we were little kids, we always loved dress-up, and found it hilarious whenever we found the secret stash of ’staches.

The wedding buzz papers have been increasingly reporting on mustachioed weddings for some years, and the silliness has reached epic levels. Even two years later, we see them still popping up in wedding blogs. It fills us with glee that couples are showing their quirky sense of humor in their most intimate ceremony with their friends and families. We’re delighted to see Bon Moment offering this unique, silly, yet still classy (yes, really) mustache wedding invitation stationery set.

What do we dig about this set?
* The vintage, old time-y wallpaper vibe
* The versatile color combinations and bold patterns
* Attention to detail with a variety of ’stache styles

Bon Moment has shared a variety of out-of-the-ordinary wedding stationery sets with us in the past; sock monkeys, rockabilly tattoos and a dreamy retro telegram-inspired theme. This theme is a genuinely unique invitation set. We love the balanced combination of feminine curves, hand drawn details and masculine, sharp geometric shapes. They really do the ’stache revolution big favors by paying homage to the wax tipped, fluffy, natural and an all-time classic, Tom Selleck.

Everything you need...with a mustache.

This wedding invitation set comes with everything you’ll need to fill your wedding with mustachioed goodness. The sets are available in three colors, lemongrass (a yummy yellow-green), cloud (a soft pale grey) and rose (a muted, delicate pink). Included in the set design are save the date postcards, wedding invitations, RSVP postcards, menus and wedding programs. All of the suite pieces are offered individually in sets of an easy 25. I also have it on good authority that the thank you and DIY templates will be available soon. All of the pieces of the set are printed on a bright white heavy stock that gives a visual pop and feel substantial in your hand. You can check out the entire set at Bon Moment Etsy.

Here’s some of my favorite mustache-endowed finds:

Archie McPhee: Seriously, how could you go wrong? They run the best ’stache business in town.
Wedding Mustache Flickr Pool: Awesome inspiration from other ’stached weddings.
DIY Mustache on a Stick: Need I say more? You know you want to make these!

Adding something a little personal to your run-of-the mill wedding invitation can take your wedding from ‘pretty darn good’ to ‘fantastic’. Below are a couple of ideas we think you’ll find pretty handy. We’ve used the Rockabilly Tattoo and Retro Telegram DIY Wedding Templates from our store. First, we had them printed out at a local print shop. Next, we cut them out and got them ready for some fun personalization.

Gift wrapped DIY wedding invitations give a personal touch.

The Gift Wrap
Who doesn’t like getting a gift in the mail? By wrapping up your invitation & RSVP with a sassy ribbon and adding a little bauble, everyone will feel like you went out of your way to make their invitation special.

On the right, we’ve just wrapped our Retro Telegram Invitation and RSVP up with a quarter inch black ribbon. In the center, we tied in a little world charm. And your guests take apart the invitation they have a charm keepsake. The charms can be expensive, so be sure to buy them in bulk. Be sure to also keep an eye out for the weight of your charms, the post office charges more if your invitation goes over 1 ounce! On the left, we wrapped up the Rockabilly Tattoo wedding invitation and RSVP with a little blue ribbon to ‘tie’ all the colors together (get it?! Tie?! Ha!). We then used a little bead glue to adhere a small star rhinestone. For our advanced Wedding DIY-ers we’ve also adhered some of those stars to the actual invitation to give it a little POP! This can be time consuming but we think the final product looks pretty fabulous.

Try something new: DIY wedding invitations with a belly band.

The Belly Band
You’ll often see a “belly band” or a band of paper or fabric that wraps around the parts of the invitation to complete the look of your wedding stationery. We tried to do something a little fun and different here. For the Retro Telegram set, we layered and old map against a blue band and brought it all together with a gold seal. Another nice destination wedding that touch that will help transport your guests to your wedding destination. We also layered the Rockabilly Tattoo set with a piece of paper from an old hot rod calendar and punctuated with a glittery star sticker. You can use anything from wrapping paper, to maps to calendars. Its an easy an inexpensive way to personalize your wedding invitation.

A fancy fastener to give your DIY wedding invitations flair.

The Fancy Fastener
Another simple and fun way to give your wedding invitation some flair is to add an unusual paper clip or unique paper fastener. This is particularly effective when you have several sheets to put together. In these we made a direction card for each set that layered between the Invitation and the RSVP card. The one on the Retro Telegram direction card is matted on a piece of thick black card stock. We fasten it all together with an over-sized white paperclip that can be found at any office supply store. The Rockabilly Tattoo direction card is another slice out of the calendar we used on the belly band. A blue hot rod sets off the set while a gold spiral paper clip holds it all together.

Just a few simple steps can really make the difference with your wedding invitations. It does take a little more work, that’s for sure. But an evening, a buddy, a bottle of wine and a couple of episodes of Glee will get a set of stand out invitations you’ll be excited to seal up in their envelopes and send to your guests.

Stacy and I sent out the invitations the week before Valentine’s Day. We decided to send them out earlier than normally recommended because our wedding is on a holiday weekend (Memorial Day). We wanted to make sure we got to people before they started planning other things for that weekend.

So, of course we started stalking the mail carrier on Monday, February 15th like the dorks we are. Naturally, there were no RSVPS for the first few days, but now we get a couple every other day. I am a full-time unemployed person so I am usually the one to get the mail first. It’s almost the favorite part of my day! It sounds silly, but you know the excitement you feel when you decide to throw a party and people slowly, one by one, respond to let you know they’re coming or not! It is very exciting especially since this isn’t any ordinary party.

Each day, I sort through the mail eagerly looking for the little envelopes we sent everyone for their RSVPs. Each day, I use every ounce of will power I have to set them aside and wait for Stacy to get home when we open them together. While I’m waiting, I examine each one for clues as to who it’s from. If it’s marked “California”, I know it’s someone Stacy invited. If it’s somewhere in Central Illinois, it’s my family. If it’s from here in Chicago, it drives me crazy to wait because it could be anyone we know!

Some people write notes on them. Stacy’s parents wrote a whole, touching note about how they love us, respect our relationship and that they wouldn’t miss our wedding for anything. My mom wrote “Eh, I’m planning to be in town for the Cubs vs. Cards game anyway.” That’s our family’s sense of humor.

We do get disappointed when we see that some people can’t come. Those people usually write a note as to why they are missing the wedding. We understand that some people won’t be able to come. That’s the nature of throwing a party, right? We’ve been talking about webcasting our wedding for those who can’t attend. We’ll let you know!

Things we heart about this:
· It has a sense of humor
· It’s colorful
· It gives couples an opportunity to really show off their personalities

We also love the home-made style with exposed stitching, funny little monkeys and hatched background that smacks of a wide-woven linen. The color options, ruby & beige, teal and beige and hot pink and red, provide enough options to appeal to a wide color palette. Whether they’re holding hands (like the save the date) or there’s no sign of the monkeys at all (program) there is a distinct charm in the simplicity of its construction. You’ll sve the date, and save these cards…

Another thing which we thought really stood out was the homage to toy nostalgia. Most offbeat couples can appreciate the throw-back sentiment that Bon Moment captures. We hope to see more of this sort of aesthetic in the future!

We’ve been told that a matching Thank You card is in the works as well as a Do-it-Yourself wedding template PDF will be released soon. Also, all of their products are printed on bright white card stock and are purchased in sets of 25.

Here at Antibride.com, we’re always on the lookout for things that are new, different and otherwise off the beaten path. Well, we’ve honed in on another interesting wedding invitation that takes a fresh look at counterculture weddings. We’re pleased to present the Retro Rockabilly Tattoo wedding invitation suite by Bon Moment.

If you’re a out-of-the-box couple and you’re looking for something quintessentially rockabilly, we think you’d give this set a second, if not longing, look. Even if you’re just a fan of “the good old days” where your grandparents walked uphill, both ways, in the snow and still like to tell tales of sock hops, war time and silk pantyhose dangling in the shower, you’ll probably like these as well. What’s more, it’s fresh out of the designer’s fingers (released just in time for wedding season).

The hippest Save the Date Card in captivity. Rock on with your frock on!

Inspired by retro tattoo artists, the invitation is available in three colors, sunshine, ruby, or white (their color names), with white envelopes. Also available is a save the date postcard, rsvp postcard, menu card, and wedding program. Each of these pieces has their own color options allowing a couple to mix-and-match colors to create exactly the look and feel that they are trying to create. Thank you cards are still in the works but we’ve been told they sport a kicky horseshoe (for good luck, of course). Fun!

We asked the artists a few questions about how they go about creating their invitation concepts and they had an interesting take on it:

“We like to tell a story with our invitations. That’s why we offer a total concept rather than the standard repetitive elements you’ll find on most wedding invitations. We believe in giving the couple the ability to really craft their invitation set with color and wording to really express who they are. We try to create things that will ‘pop’ when they arrive in a guests’ mailbox.”

This set is printed on bright white card stock and comes in quantities of 25. This set is also available in Print-at-Home PDF template, catering to the DIY and eco-brides. See the entire set here:

If you’re a bride looking for a destination wedding invitation that is a little less sea-shell and sunset and a little more vintage jetset you might enjoy the Retro Telegram invitation suite by Bon Moment.

RSVP in vintage style at Bon Moment

We like the fact that it isn’t your typical turquoise and coral beach scene. It’s a retro travel theme that’s a little offbeat. It features bold colors like Ruby, Onyx and Deep sea. The invitation itself is a unique take on a telegram with “STOP” after each period, just like the original delivery. Pair that with the romantic travel-poster-esque train RSVP, and you’ve got something really out of the ordinary.

The matching airplane Save the Date has been morphed into everything from a moving card to a vintage Hawaiian wedding invitation. You can get save the date cards, wedding invitations, RSVPs, menu cards, programs and thank you cards within this theme. All of the pieces are unique individually, and tell a really compelling story when used together.

This wedding invitation suite is created and produced by newcomer Bon Moment, through their etsy store. Its printed on bright white card stock and comes in quantities of 25. Interestingly enough, this set is also available in Print-at-Home PDF template, catering to the DIY and eco-brides.
