The heavy black half moon liner that was a hit at the Valentino s/s show, has now made it’s way down the aisle for brides. The look created gives an appearance of dark eye shadow, but this high impact liner is being created with using a cream eye liner or kohl pencil. This makeup look is definitely not traditional bridal makeup, but nowadays what bride is. The main attraction on this bride will be the seductive eyes

To get this dramatic bold eye, start out with applying a primer on the lid to keep the eyeliner in place. Apply the cream liner on the entire lid stopping just above the crease of the eye. I used my favorite L’OREAL HIP cream truth eyeliner in black. I like to apply it with a flat stiff brush then going back over it using my fingers to soften the look. Once it is well blended, I go back and line the eyes with a slanted eyeliner brush to give the eye a shape. Here you can do a round shape or the popular winged shape.

To give a more Barbella look add your favorite volume mascara (L’OREAL Voluminous Mascara in Carbon Black) and a full set of lashes. On the lips, I prefer going with a very sheer lip color in pink or peach (Josie Maran lip gloss in Confession). I decided to opt for using a lip pencil because I wanted to keep the lips soft.

Imperfectly perfect side braid

To achieve the new, great breakout trend, the imperfect side braid, on your wedding day, start by parting the hair on the opposite side of how it falls naturally. Mist the top of the hair with John Master Organics Sea Mist. Gather the hair into a low side ponytail and plait it, securing the ends with a clear elastic rubber band. Finish the ends by allowing a few pieces to come out of the elastic.

Tousled like Bardot

To create the natural tousled beach look with your highlighted long layers, spray on Rene’ Furterer Naturia dry shampoo, let it rest a minute and mists hair with Sally Hershberger Shagg spray. Then finger comb to give it that tousled, just rolled out of bed look.

Ballet beauty in an updo

On the runway, hair stylist Guido Palau creates many soft, effortless and elegant buns. The classic ballerina bun works best on light to medium hair that falls to the neckline or longer. This is a great look for a summer bride who’s wearing a strapless dress. Very lightly, spritz the hair with Redken Full Volume Amplifier, back brush with a soft brush and mist with L’OREAL Elnet Satin Hairspray. Rough up the hair and then secure with hairpins or your favorite hair comb.

Retro vixenry in a side bob

Faux bob works best for shoulder length or longer layered hair. This look is flirty for an evening wedding on a hot summer night. To play up the glamorous, classic look add a Swarovski crystal barrette or a vintage brooch right out of your jewelry box.

Sexy side pinned roll

Side pinned roll works best on straight or wavy shoulder length hair. Spritz hair with John Frieda Frizz-Ease Dream Curl spray. Parting strands down the center and securing on the sides is a sexy way to go. Gather hair into a low pony and pull locks over and under, wrapping until a messy roll is formed. Use pins to hold the shape and a vibrant tropical hibiscus flower if you’re getting married on the beach.

Real good advice on false eyelashes

There are so many variety type of lashes on the market; strips, individual, clusters, minx, and semi permanent. Fake lashes are available in many colors, lengths, shapes and sizes. The two main lash colors are black and soft brown. The great thing about these inexpensive gems is that they can be reused. Just store them in their original packaging to help retain their shape.

A bride’s eyes tell the story of her wedding, and lashes accentuate that memorable tale. A wedding is the whimsical fantasy for all women and what bride is complete without her bold beautiful lashes. Here are the key items you will need to apply these great finishers.

Nude lips and a smoky eye for W-day

Many of our favorite celebrities have graced magazines pages wearing a nude lip color. Seductive nude lips are always in season for weddings and brides can be just as glamuxrious as color stained lips, especially when paired with a dramatic or smoky eye.

When wearing a pale pout, you have to care for your lips making sure their moisturized to be sure it will wear well and look smooth and kissable. I prefer to use Sara Happ lip scrub to remove extra dry skin but a basic soft toothbrush and petroleum jelly can also do the trick. I apply a foundation or a concealer completely over the lip. This way, I have a fresh canvas and can outline the lip to the shape I like. When selecting the correct shade in the nude family I usually select; Pinks for fair and medium skin, and beige for medium dark to darker skin. I then apply Sara Happ lip slip balm to keep the lips hydrated.

Go flesh toned on the lips whether it’s cream, matte, or glossy and you will be noticeable on your wedding day.

Growing up like so many young girls, I had dreams of what my wedding would be like. I knew what my gown was going to look like, how I would style my hair, how long my cathedral veil would be, what lipstick shade I would wear, and of course I knew that my bottle of Coco Chanel No. 5 would be the scent to adorn my body. Looking back now, vintage brides from the 20’s and 40’s have always been my bridal inspiration. Besides the boat neck necklines and tea length wedding dresses, the fancy headpieces are my second favorite item of a vintage bride. The birdcage veil, mantilla bridal veil, and pillbox hats are some of the most popular vintage headpieces that are being recycled. Below are fabulous headpieces that a modern destination bride can wear when walking down the aisle in a grand cathedral, at an outdoor sculpture garden, or on a white sandy beach.

Evening W-day makeup calls for drama

An evening destination bride always loves a glamxurious makeup look. An evening wedding allows for more of a dramatic makeup application. Brides with or without flawless skin can get away with a heavier foundation. Evening brides can indulge in bold eye shadow colors, eye lash extensions, shimmer, and high shine lip gloss.

When selecting an eye shadow for an evening dramatic eye, I like to use 3-4 different eye shadow colors. I always make sure to use a flat or matte color at the bottom of the eye to help make the shimmer colors stand out in pictures. (On the bride; MAC pigment in Vanilla, IMAN eye shadow in Nutmeg, MAC Pearlized Solar Bits Pigment Cluster in Black Ore, L’OREAL HIP Cream eyeliner in Black)

Eyelashes (strips or individual lashes) are an absolutely infallible feature adding definition to help bring out the eye. Strips are great if you want the lashes for the evening and individuals are great if you want them to make it through the honeymoon. (On the bride; ARDELL flare individual lashes)

Shimmer on the cheekbones is great for many reasons. I love how it photographs in pictures. Shimmer is also pretty on the skin giving it a glow as the bride walks down the aisle and as the candlelight in the room hits the skin. (On the bride; Illamasqua Bronzing Duo in Glint & Burnish)

Lastly, high defined glossy lips. An evening bride can wear both a dark eye with a color lip. I like to use a lip pencil, lipstick, and lip gloss when creating a sexy glossy lip. Now if you are a daring bride, a sultry bride, a rocker bride or even an anti-bride then you know that red lipstick is a glamxurious trend that seems to never go out of style. Anti-Brides have always been inspired by their favorite Hollywood and Rock and Roll vixens and they always step outside of the traditional pinks, peach or nude lipstick colors on their wedding day.

So many times makeup artists in beauty editors has preached to women to keep their eyes in cheeks to a minimal if your’re going to wear a bold lip color. But if the rest of your makeup is applied correctly, you can sashay down the aisle wearing a smoky eye, faux lashes and a cherry bomb red lipstick. Just be sure to find the correct shade of a red lip color for your skin tone. Below I created a cheat sheet to help you with your selection. On my model above I used Chanel Rouge Allure Luminous Satin Lip Lacquer in #75 Dragon. A creamy texture rich color and shine that will last for hours.

Fair skin tones can wear blue-based red lipsticks. This means the color is a true classic red, with no hint of orange or pink.

Medium skin tones have more options. You can wear a true red to pinky-cranberry shade, an orange-red pops against a medium skin tone, especially when worn with bronzer.

Dark skin tones look better wearing a deeper, richer burgundy or warm brick shade. Dark skin tones should also opt for a purple-based red.
